GRIEF BITE

In the quiet of my heart
No illusions now
Trying to make sense out of
What we must all endure
Death, they say,
Respects no one
Memories to hold
In a span of one week
Father and daughter
Numbing my being
Spinning my head
And I feel lost
The eternal absence
The void, the silent echoes
Of their footsteps as they walk
The endless journey
To the beyond
While we await our turn, yet
Yet…
