fixing heart fragments

see you fidgeting
wiping sweat from your brow
as drop by drop escapes
falling onto your ill-fitting pieces
‘He needs a miracle’, I think to myself
many fragments from broken hearts
carelessly and precariously stacked
some edges are jagged
your fingers bleed I see
in your vain attempt to fix
the complex and perplexing puzzle
sad, the hearts too did bleed
each time you did one break
and now
you are the shattered one
