I SHALL DANCE IN YOUR DREAMS

I am poised to dance
I hear the music
feel your warmth
and smell your perfume
I gaze out the window and
the stars smile down at me
a sudden chill tells me
I am not in your embrace
I pour out a coffee and
hold it in my hand
letting the steam tease my nose
hearing your voice in the wind
I rush to the window but
shadows of swaying tree branches
dance under the moonlight
turning me green with envy
the night blooming jasmine
embraces me as it fills the air
I whisper to you
“Come dance with me”
and close my eyes
tonight as I lay my form
on the cold lonely bed
my being floats with
the music of my heart
I am poised to dance and
I shall dance in your dreams tonight
